So the original country definition had some association related criteria/exceptions noted.

Country Name: Thorn
Current President/Dictator/King or Queen: bakester14
Summary: A small, rocky outcrop in the middle of the Pacific, this solitary country is only about 6 miles long, and 1 mile wide.
Benefits: 50 DP to the first 100 to join the country, + a strong military of Vigilantes.
Taxes: N/A (for now)
Restrictions: Only 10 Destroyers. YOU WILL BE GIVEN LOTS OF MINES!

So a few things come to mind.
1: when/how/who distributes the 50 DP to the first 100 citizens. Are they counted from way back when this was first done, or from now with the countries revival?
2. Destroyers. Only 10. Great. Love it. How do we enforce that. What defines someone as a Destroyer? The primary association? The fact they have a predilection for mining? With the exception of portals, I'm rather an omnitoolian, but I certainly see myself as Destroyer/Benefactor first and foremost.
People's associations change over time, as their interests or tool usage changes. I realize we can now set our primary association to be whatever, so that helps, but I still see this as being a slightly difficult to manage task.
What if Geb decides he wants to get his hands dirty doing some mining, and we have 10 Destroyers already? Do we kick him out? does it matter? Does anyone care?
From my perspective, I say let anyone mine the hell out of whomever/wherever they want. Just don't give them (my) mines if they're not on the "official" Destroyer list perhaps.
These are questions for itheman, I don't know if he wanted to stick to the original charter or not. Personally I do think that there are some good ideas in there and I'll work on getting some DP out to members since there probably isn't a lockbox anywhere to get it from. I had noticed that DP promise when I first read things but forgot about it since I was assuming that there were a bunch of members already until I got here.
@itheman So, any answers for these ones? I'll help out in keeping to whatever you decide on. I do think that we should base Destroyer on the chosen primary association but I'll leave that to you as well.
Oh, the "lots of mines", I'll work on that too.

I think you should have negotiations with a few hundred Vigilantes. They're good people and will make great citizens for Thorn. The Destroyers, on the other hand, should all be thrown out. They're terrorists, and can not be trusted. You don't support terrorists, do you?
I just had a thought, has anyone tried getting members of any of the guilds to join Thorn? If any of you belong to any guilds make sure you mention Thorn and the other countries to them so that we can get things going.
Why mention the other countries? Thorn needs someone to trade with and if awareness of all of the countries is raised then more people may decide to join one.

I'm waaaaaaaaayyy ahead of ya on that one. I mentioned Thorn to the Casque about a week before it was even revived. Unfortunately, nobody seemed interested, so I just dropped it. Well, with Geb and me here you're already having a pretty good relationship with the Casque, anyway.
And about trading...we've got a pretty nice deal on watchdogs, you know?
Watchdogs? How much to get ten crated to my profile? Can't get them at the shoppe myself for some reason, guess my primary association has to be Vigilante or something.

We don't really sell them, we offer the service of guarding your profile for 50 DeePs per 5 dogs here http://pmog.com/forums/trading/topics/freelance-vigilantes . I guess I could sell you dogs, but Salmontickler has the best price for mines, dogs and nicks anyway. I'm rather sure you can't use them until you can buy them in the shoppe, though.
This one has been here a while but I just wanted to add that I have had some dogs crated to me before and used them without issue but I am still unable to purchase them. Just one of those odd facts, some tools can be used before you can buy them for yourself. It's kind of like the thing of being old enough to die for your country at 18 but you have to wait until your 21 to have a beer (U.S. thing). Some things just don't make any sense to me.
